According to Golf Datatech, national golf rounds played for the U.S. were down 1.4 percent in August compared to August 2010. Public access play was down 0.8 percent for the month and private course activity was down 3.8 percent. 
 
By region, declines came in Mountain, 2.7 percent; New England, 7.5 percent; Mid Atlantic, 11.0 percent; South Atlantic, 0.9 percent; and South Central, 1.6 percent. Gains were seen in the Pacific, 1.0 percent; West North Central, 2.0 percent; and East North Central, 2.7 percent;

A total of 3765 courses are represented in the report.
