GOAT, a leading marketplace for sneakers, announced the launch of The Greatest – a pop-up sneaker gallery debuting on October 7 at Platform in Culver City, CA.

The rotating exhibition will run through Dec. 31, and serves to celebrate the artists, shoes and boutiques that have shaped pop culture and paved the way for sneaker enthusiasts everywhere. October’s month-long exhibit, The Greatest: Los Angelespays homage to LA’s profound impact on global sneaker culture from the year 2000 to present day.

From the Air Jordan 4 Retro collaboration that skyrocketed Undefeated to the top of the shoe market, to the more recent Fear of God x Vans Vault Mountain release, the first exhibit traces the evolution of LA’s rich and ever-growing history with sneaker culture. The story of the city’s influence will be told through 25 pairs of historically-significant shoes born out of LA including: Air Jordan 3/8 Retro Pack ‘Kobe Bryant,’ Dunk Low Pro SB ‘Diamond,’ Air Force 1 ‘Mr. Cartoon,’ Yeezy PowerPhase ‘Calabasas,’ Air Huarache Le ‘Stussy,’ and Air Max 97 360 x Union.

“I think people are a product of the environment in which they were raised. LA is not only a melting pot of various ethnicities, but LA is also an intersection of diverse subcultures such as skate, surf and gangs,” said Jason Markk, founder and CEO of Jason Markk, Inc. “This is evident in the way we live, carry ourselves, and also what’s on our feet.”

Taking a holistic look at the sneaker phenomenon, GOAT will also host sessions led by those who have shaped the broader culture through photography, fashion, design and product innovation. Guests can learn and interact with industry pioneers and legendary streetwear figures including: Jeff Staple, Jason Markk, “The Shoe Surgeon,” Andrea LiebermanSophia ChangJimmy GoreckiJa TecsonCole YoungerTheo Martins and Josh Peskowitz. The pop-up’s programming features fireside chats, Q&A’s and workshops throughout the duration of The Greatest.

“We’ve wanted to create a physical space like this for a long time, to inspire and bring people from different backgrounds together through their love of sneakers,” said Daishin Sugano, co-founder and CPO at GOAT. “We’re excited for the opportunity to share some of LA’s contributions to the sneaker community since 2000, and explore where the industry is headed to next.”
