Even as other brands are showing declines in the core golf shop business — a trend blamed on declining or stagnating rounds played this year — Greg Norman Collection saw continued growth in the channel that outpaced its overall revenue gains for the second quarter ended June 30. GNC saw a 28% increase in its core golf business in Q2 while total sales improved 19% for the period, marking the tenth consecutive quarter of double-digit sales growth for the company. GNC also reported improved operating profits for the quarter.

For the first half of the year, GNC reported a 22% increase in the core golf business and a 19% increase in total, with double-digit sales increases occurring in the golf, retail, corporate, and international segments.

“Over the past three years, we've seen explosive growth in our core golf business which has grown by almost 60%. Of the 1,280 new doors we've added during that time period, over 90 percent are premier green grass accounts,” said Dave Hall, VP of operations and chief financial officer, in a release.

Hall was recently promoted to VP operations and CFO, taking on a more strategic role over distribution, embroidery, and customer service functions.

In other news, Sarah Hand McAleer has joined the company as senior director of design. Formerly of Tommy Hilfiger and Cerutti 1881, Hand McAleer most recently was responsible for men's licensing design for the Hilfiger Crest Collections and served on the company's Creative Committee.
