Genesco, Inc., the parent of Journeys, Schuh Johnston & Murphy, and other footwear brands, has named Kyle Polischuk as chief human resources officer. In this newly created role, Polischuk is expected to leverage her 20-plus years of human resources experience overseeing Genesco’s HR program, including talent management and recruitment, leadership development, performance management, employee engagement, and total rewards.

“I am pleased to join Genesco at this exciting time of transformation. I look forward to working with the exceptional team to continue building our talent and position the company for continued growth,” said Polischuk.

GCO said Polischuk has a strong background in consumer, retail and human resources and joins the company from Rue Gilt Group, an off-price e-commerce portfolio company, where she was responsible for people and talent strategy and its connection to business goals.

Before Rue Gilt, Polischuk reportedly held various leadership roles, including as chief human resources officer with J. Jill leading the strategic direction of the company’s talent with a “creative, collaborative and data centric approach, while aligning with the company’s strategic objectives.”

Previous positions include at Talbots where she served in successive roles including vice president of human resources, where she led all human resources activity, including serving on Talbot’s Executive Committee during the specialty retailer’s business turnaround.

Polischuk will report to Mimi Vaughn, Genesco’s board chair, president and CEO and serve on Genesco’s executive management committee. Her appointment was effective January 6.

“Kyle’s strategic leadership and exceptional track record building dynamic organizations, developing talent, and promoting strong cultures will make a tremendous impact to Genesco. Her rich knowledge of retail and digital commerce, along with her ability to cultivate innovative and results driven teams will support our growth strategies and help drive shareholder value,” offered Vaughn.
