Garmin Sues Bryton’s Cycle Computers

Garmin Ltd. announced that a Garmin subsidiary has filed a patent infringement suit against Bryton Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas.

 

Garmin has accused Bryton's products of “mimicking the appearance and functionality of Garmin's Edge cycle computers, resulting in the infringement of Garmin's design and utility patents.”
Garmin is seeking a preliminary injunction to bar immediately the sale of Bryton's Rider 30 product in the United States.


In related news German design patent infringement litigation filed by a subsidiary of Garmin, the District Court has already issued interim injunctions against Bryton and several of its German distributors banning the sale of the Rider 30 in Germany. These interim injunctions are preliminary orders that have been issued ex parte and are subject to a possible appeal.
