Gander Mountain is expanding with a new location in Southwest Charlotte, NC, set to open in the late summer.

“Gander Mountain is already a well-known and trusted name in the Carolina's among those who love the outdoors, and who enjoy great traditions like hunting, fishing, hiking, boating and camping,” said David Pratt, Gander Mountain's president and CEO. “We are thrilled to bring a new Gander Mountain store to South Charlotte, and give more of our friends in the Queen City and the surrounding region opportunities to experience our top-quality gear and knowledgeable service at great prices.”

Gander Mountain in Southwest Charlotte will be located in a new 45,600-square-foot store to be constructed in the RiverGate South development, near the junction of Steele Creek Road and Walker Branch Drive. It will be the ninth Gander Mountain location in North Carolina, joining existing stores in Fayetteville, Gastonia, Greensboro, Monroe, Mooresville, Raleigh (Morrisville), Winston-Salem and a new store set to open in East Raleigh in the coming months.

“With so many outdoor enthusiasts in the Charlotte area, Gander Mountain is a welcome addition to the local retail landscape,” said Charlotte, NC Mayor Patrick Cannon. “I'm most excited about the job creation an announcement like this brings as the average Gander Mountain store employs 50 to 70 full time, part time and seasonal workers.”

“We appreciate the warm welcome we have received from the people in Charlotte, and we look forward to our grand opening in the late summer,” said Eric Jacobsen, Gander Mountain's executive VP and director of real estate.
