Robert B. Mang, Chairman and CEO of Galyan’s Trading Company, Inc. announced the appointment of Jeff Brown to the position of Senior Vice President, General Merchandise Manager Apparel.
Jeff joins Galyan’s after more than 28 years with Kaufmann’s Department Stores, Pittsburgh, PA. He began his career with Kaufmann’s, a $1.5 billion division of May Department Stores, in 1974. He held a number of merchandising and management positions with them, most recently serving as Senior Vice President, GMM, with responsibility for $420 million in sales.
“As Galyan’s continues to add store count, it is important for the Company to add management focus to ensure the development of all categories of our business,” said Mang. He further added, “We are extremely excited to have a merchant of Jeff’s caliber joining Galyan’s. His background in apparel and accessories, as well as the strong business discipline he brings to the company, will serve us well as we continue on our rapid growth trajectory.”
Jeff will be responsible for Athletic, Casual, and Outdoor Apparel, Accessories, and Product Development. Lindsay Rice, Senior Vice President, GMM will continue to manage Athletic Equipment and Footwear; and Denny Feldmann, Senior Vice President GMM will continue to be responsible for all Outdoor Equipment categories. Commenting on his new assignment, Jeff said, “I am very enthused about the opportunity to join the Galyan’s team and look forward to helping achieve the aggressive growth strategies of the Company.”
Jeff holds a degree in Retail Management from Penn State University.
