When he led the brand, Ross Bicycles sponsored the first professional mountain bike race team, the Ross Indians. Randy Ross was also a long-time standardbred harness racing owner and breeder and an avid harness racing enthusiast, first becoming involved with the sport in 1979, according to a report by HarnessLink.com.

Randy Ross leaves behind his son Shaun, daughters Samantha and Cheyenne, sister Candy, daughter-in-law Carly, grandsons Adam and Oliver, nephews EJ and Bobby, extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherwood and Barbara Ross, and his ex-wife, Paula.
