Seasoned endurance event organizer and executive Steve Meckfessel joined Asdeporte as executive vice president of business development, effective January 1, 2017.
Meckfessel will focus on building a portfolio of events for Asdeporte, which produces Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and Ironman races, plus other major endurance events in Mexico.
During his 11 years with Ironman, Meckfessel held several senior leadership positions with the company including managing director of global race operations, chief operations officer and event director of the Ironman 70.3 World Championship during its early years beginning in 2006.
Prior to joining Ironman, Meckfessel directed events for St. Anthony’s Hospital and BayCare Health System in Tampa Bay including the St. Anthony’s Triathlon & ITU Triathlon World Cup. Meckfessel grew the event during his seven-year tenure to 4,500 age group and professional athletes. He also served as race director of the Susan G. Komen Tampa Bay Race for the Cure.
