Foot Locker will close all its locations on Monday, June 8, in observance of George Floyd’s Celebration of Life Service.

Employees will be paid. The retailer is also encouraging office staff to take Monday off, or another of their choosing, to heal following Floyd’s death and other recent events.

Richard Johnson, Foot Locker’s chairman and CEO, said in an Instagram post, “In order to give our team members time to reflect on recent tragedies, mourn Black lives lost and begin to heal, all North American stores will be closed on Monday, June 8., in honor of the Celebration of Life Service for George Floyd. We are also encouraging our office associates to take the day off, or another day of their choice, to heal. Team members will of course be paid during this time.”
