FNH Outdoors, LLC. announced the acquisition of CastAway Graphite Rods and the merger of CastAway with its existing FISH-N-Hunt Pro Gear subsidiary to form a stronger portfolio of fishing offerings for an existing hunting and fishing gear business. The company stated that vendors carrying the FNH Outdoors line will have new options under the existing FNH relationships, with end-customers expected to benefit with more choice.

CastAway is a company with over two decades of experience, and has a highly positive reputation within the fishing industry. Customer service has always been a foremost component of the CastAway company outlook. FNH Outdoors has the same outlook on business and commitment to quality within the outdoors segment.

Fish-N-Hunt Pro Gear (http://fishandhunt.com/) was purchased by Mac DeLaup in 2003 from the founder of the company, Paul Perrin. Perrin started the company in 1984 to provide products for saltwater anglers who liked to wade fish, but could not easily find the proper equipment. DeLaup’s purchase and increased capitalization made it possible for FNH to produce and make readily available premium quality gear via larger retailers like Academy Sports + Outdoors, Bass Pro Shops, and WalMart, as well as numerous independent tackle stores across the country. Combining the assets and personnel of both FNH and CastAway was a very logical step for both companies, enabling them to share resources and maintain a highly competitive edge in a challenging economy.

“CastAway has always been on the cutting edge of technology with innovations like multi-modulus blanks and they were the first company to see the benefits of the Microwave guide system,” said Adam Murray, general manager of FNH Outdoors, in reference to the reasoning behind the acquisition. “I really can’t wait to begin the next chapter in this legacy. We have some amazing plans and we are really looking forward to getting them out to our customers.”

“To me, the most important part of this acquisition is the people,” FNH owner, Mac DeLaup, stated. “From day one, I have just been so impressed by the associates at CastAway. I am really looking forward to giving them the resources they need and watching them turn this company into the biggest and best rod company in the industry. They deserve it and I know they can do it.”

CastAway’s graphite fishing rods and apparel online store (http://www.castawayrods.com) includes, among other specialty rods, the popular Skeleton series, the Deadly Dudley (tested and approved by Captain Dudley Vandenborre), Go2 rods, as well as the Pro Sport line.
