Flip Flop Shops plans to use Facebook fans to help determine the brand’s next global charity partner. Through Nov. 2011, Flip Flop Shops is asking fans, staff, and retail partners to vote for the nonprofit organization that they would like to see Flip Flop Shops become a global partner.

The fan site is www.facebook.com/FlipFlopShopsFanpage

“Social consciousness and charitable giving are important elements of the Flip Flop Shops brand and our core values,” said Brian Curin, the President of Flip Flop Shops, in a statement. “As a global brand, we have the opportunity to step forward and make a significant impact with organizations that are important to us and our fans. We want the entire Flip Flop Shops team and our fans to voice their opinions and be heard.”

Focused on helping the environment, providing clothing and footwear to impoverished communities, and supporting entrepreneurship, select organizations include: Samaritan’s Feet, Planet Aid, Surfrider Foundation, SurfAid International, Oceana, Save the Waves Coalition, Reef Check, Surfers for Cetaceans, and Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.

“Our charitable partner should fit the vibe of Flip Flop Shops and get local communities and staff excited to support its cause,” added Darin Kraetsch, CEO . “We're stoked to team-up with any of these organizations, and look forward to hearing from our fans, who not only are passionate about our brand but support our mission to give back.”

Founded in 2004, Flip Flop Shops is North America’s first retail chain exclusive to the hottest brands and latest styles of flip flops and sandals from big names such as REEF, Sanuk, Flojos, OluKai, and Cobian. The company’s well-managed global expansion strategy calls for 236 locations to open in select markets by 2013.
