Orchid announced the appointment of Michael Andersen to the position of director of regulatory services. In this role, Andersen will lead Orchid’s international trade practice and fulfill client needs related to ATF compliance, import/export licensing, and firearm eCommerce regulations.
He officially joined the company on February 1, 2021.
Over the last ten years, Andersen has held various roles of expanding responsibility at Brownells, Inc. Most recently, he served as the Director of Compliance where he led state and federal firearms compliance, hazardous materials compliance and international trade programs. Andersen said, “I look forward to providing Orchid’s clients with expert knowledge of commercial firearm regulations, especially related to distribution, eCommerce and retail consumer sales.”
Andersen is considered one of the industry’s true subject matter experts when it comes to interacting with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), the U.S. Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and the U.S. Census Bureau.
