The FBI completed 1.68 million gun background checks in April, a hike of 69.1 percent compared to the April 2019 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 992,642.
Gun background checks have been seeing a significant uptick amid the pandemic. Checks were up 41 percent in March, 36 percent in February and 18.6 percent in January. In 2019, the FBI completed 28.4 million background checks in 2019, up 8.4 percent from 2018 and up 3 percent from the previous record set in 2016.
