Finisterre, the UK-based manufacturer of cold-water sustainable surf apparel, opened its first North American retail storefront in partnership with Maine Surfers Union in Portland, ME.

Situated in the heart of Portland’s Old Port shopping district, the store is expected to spearhead the brand’s global retail expansion into North America.

Chris Evans, president and general manager of Finisterre North America, said, “We are beyond stoked to launch this partnership with Maine Surfers Union and the Portland, ME community, who we know share many of Finisterre’s same values and passions.”

Finisterre remodeled the 1,100-square-foot space to mirror the interiors in the 11 retail stores it operates in the UK. The store will carry the full range of Finisterre’s clothing for men and women, as well as wetsuits, swimwear, and accessories.

Charlie Fox, founder of Maine Surfers Union, said, “It’s a significant moment in our journey to launch Finisterre at the Maine Surfers Union store.”

As the Founder, I can’t think of a better place for us to showcase our brand. A huge thanks to Charlie and the crew for making it happen,” said Finisterre Founder Tom Kay.

Fox added, “It’s always refreshing when collaborations align with shared values and goals. The alignment between the rugged, adventure-ready product offerings of Finisterre, alongside Maine Surfers Union’s wood-roasted coffee and hand-shaped surfboards, creates a cohesive shopping and community experience. We couldn’t be more excited to continue to invest in and build this partnership.”

An extension of Finisterre’s Lived and Loved repair program will be available in-store later this summer.
