Finalists for the third annual Outdoor Inspiration Awards presented by adidas Outdoor were announced following a round of voting by a judging panel comprised of representatives from adidas Outdoor, Outdoor Retailer (OR) and the Outdoor Industry Associations (OIA) board of directors.
All show attendees are invited to join the festivities that will showcase winners engaging stories of how they have impacted those around them to experience the outdoors for the first time or more often.
Finalists include the following companies: Boy Scouts of America, Outdoor Afro, Powertraveller, REI, Sierra Club, Soldiers to Summits, SOS Outreach and Suunto.
Finalists in the individual category are: Paul Fejtek, inspirational adventurist and first person with Brachial Plexus Palsy to reach Mt. Everetts summit; Laura Jones, passionate outdoor devotee and manager at River Sports Outfitters; Marilyn Price, founder of Trips for Kids, and Bill Sweasy, chairman and CEO of Red Wing Shoe Company, Inc.
This year, a special Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to American mountaineer and author, Fred Beckey, who has made more first ascents than any other North American climber. Fred, also known as Beckey by his climbing companions, turned 90 this year and is an active climber to this day.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for drinks, hors doeuvres and an opportunity to mingle with fellow outdoor devotees. The presentation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
