For the second year Farm to Feet will welcome thru-hikers to Damascus, VA, May 19-21, as the the title sponsor of Appalachian Trail Days.
The annual weekend celebration of the Appalachian Trail attracts over 20,000 people – comprised of Appalachian Trail thru-hikers and outdoors enthusiasts alike – to the town of about a 1,000 to camp, mend gear, recuperate and celebrate the trail.
“The spirit of the Appalachian Trail is on full display at Trail Days,” said David Petri, Farm to Feet VP of marketing. “It is the perfect opportunity for us to connect with the hiking community and gain valuable feedback on how we can improve our products.”
During Trail Days, Farm to Feet will provide each thru-hiker with a pair of its Damascus technical hiking socks and will have an area set for the hikers to refresh and relax. Throughout the weekend Farm to Feet will interview attendees for its Trail Yarns initiative, a story telling program that will chronicle hikers experiences on the Farm to Feet website.
At last year’s event Farm to Feet interviewed hikers to be considered for its packaging. Following a vote of its Facebook followers, Megan “Sourstraw” Hammond and Paul “Sauerkraut” Hammond of Scottsdale, AZ and known collectively on the trail as “The Sours,” were selected and are profiled on this year’s packaging.
