Nester Hosiery and its wool sock brand Farm to Feet appeared in a new documentary film, “The Real Mayberry.”  The film explores the past, present and future of Mt. Airy, NC, the company’s and Andy Griffith’s hometown and the inspiration for television’s Mayberry.

“Mt. Airy, like so many small towns around the country, has lost so much of its manufacturing, and we are proud to stand as an example that manufacturing is still viable in the U.S.,” said Dave Petri, Nester Hosiery VP of marketing.

The documentary explores Mayberry from an economic, cultural and social perspective through profiles of the town’s characters and businesses.

The film was produced and directed by Mt. Airy native Bill Hayes, the founder of Figure 8 Films and Thunder Mountain Media.

“Small towns and rural America are an important part of our past and critical to the future of this country,” said Hayes. “We need to return to producing quality goods, and Nester Hosiery is a great example of that.”
