ExOfficio debut its new fabric technology SoWarm, which will appear in its Fall 2017 range.
The concept behind the innovation was to condense the bulk of heavy layers needed in cold climates.
“Keeping warm and comfortable means the traveler can spend more time exploring their destinations,” said ExOfficio general manager, Brian Thompson. “We want travelers to feel empowered to visit cool weather locations and our SoWarm pieces allow them to pack less yet do more.”
SoWarm technology is a family of adaptive performance yarns and fabric treatments that provide a high warmth-to-weight ratio. The treatments are designed into garment layers, with the first layers converts water vapor from the body to thermal energy. The second layers work to trap body heat, and outer layers provide warmth through insulation. ExOfficio has also incorporated IR reflection technology into all layers to trap body heat and reflect it back to the skin.
