Optibike LLC has doubled its Boulder, CO based workforce in 2008 and is now increasing its manufacturing space by taking over a former Beech Aircraft building in Boulder to accommodate a 230% increase in production.
Electric bikes sales have been increasing for the last few years in China and Europe and new technology is facilitating a rapid increase in US sales. The company sells direct and is not currently recruiting dealers.
“The Optibike was designed to meet the needs of the American market,” said Jim Turner, Optibike inventor. “It is sleek, stylish, and very powerful. These elements are very important in America where customers want be able to travel long distances and have enough power to climb steep hills with confidence.”
The Optibike is powered by the patented Motorized Bottom Bracket (MBB), which allows the rider to add their pedal power to the motor power for a harmonious balance of electric power and exercise.
Powered by the largest lithium battery available in an electric bike (20ah, 36v) the Optibike has a range of 50 miles with a 35mph top speed. No registration, insurance, or license is required in most states (check with your local and state government.)
The hand-build Optibike is expensive with prices ranging from $4,995-$12,995.
