A native of Manhasset, N.Y., Bitter garnered wide spread notoriety in high school playing at Manhasset High School, where he earned All-America honors as a senior. In college, Bitter started every game during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons at UNC and totaled 99 goals and 76 assists with 172 ground balls in 63 career games. Bitter was a first-team All-America selection his sophomore and junior season and was second-team All-America selection his senior year.
