Easton-Bell Sports Inc. will license the Kevlar trademark for use in tires, locks and other bicycle products marketed under the Bell and Blackburn brands to settle a trademark infringement lawsuit brought by E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co.
DuPont filed a trademark infringement lawsuit (E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. v. Easton- Bell Sports Inc., 1:13-cv-00150) in the U.S. District Court, District of Delaware earlier this year alleging Easton-Bell’s use of the DuPont and Kevlar trademarks on its packaging violated DuPont's trademark rights.
Tires made from Kevlar are prized by cyclists for their light weight, durability and because their foldability makes them easy to carry as a back-up tire during road or trail rides.
