Travel outfitter Eagle Creek employee Kristie Focht has been named for the second time to the VF 100 for her commitment to volunteering and fostering a love of service within the community.

The VF 100 award, given by Eagle Creek’s parent VF Corp., recognizes the efforts of VF associates to improve the communities in which they live and work. The award recognizes the 100 associates out of 52,000 worldwide who accumulate the highest number of community service hours.

Recipients are honored with a donation of $1,000 from the corporation on their behalf to the qualified non-profit of their choice. Focht has selected Urban Nature Partners PDX, which empowers youth from under-served neighborhoods through building long-term mentoring relationships and providing access to meaningful outdoor experiences.

Focht planned and participated in a week-long volunteer project as part of her investment in Eagle Creek’s “Live.Work.Travel.” program, which encourages thoughtful service in the places associates live, work and travel. Focht used this benefit to volunteer in Haiti with Feed One Haiti.

She also spends her time volunteering with the Tryon Creek Watershed Council, and recently started helping Urban Nature Partners PDX with strategic planning for the long-term expansion of their mentorship program.

“I am so thankful I work for a company that recognizes the importance of volunteer work and encourages employees to make a difference in areas they are passionate about,” said Focht. “My passions are kids and the great outdoors, and I’m very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with all three of these amazing organizations this past year.”
