Dr. Martens has appointed Carla Murphy, most recently the global senior vice president and general manager of Adidas Outdoor, as its chief brand officer.
The London-based footwear brand announced that Murphy will be responsible for driving brand strategy, vision and creative direction, as well as overseeing global product, marketing and sustainability teams.
Murphy will report to Ije Nwokorie, who was promoted to CEO in April 2024 and previously served as chief brand officer.
As global senior vice president and general manager at Adidas Outdoor, based in Adidas’ headquarters in Germany, Murphy led end-to-end strategy, management, and execution globally for the outdoor category, which included Adidas Terrex and Five Ten brands, according to Dr. Martens’ social media post revealing the hire. She reported directly to the CEO and was part of the Adidas brand and executive leadership team.
Murphy has over 20 years of industry experience, with previous roles that include global chief brand and product officer for lifestyle merino brand Icebreaker, owned by VF Corp., and senior brand and product positions across brands within the Amer Sports group (Nikita, Salomon, Atomic, Arc’teryx, etc.).
Dr. Martens said Murphy’s hire “complements the recent addition of senior executives across creative direction, product design, category management, and marketing.
