Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. is planning to open a new distribution center in East Point, Ga. The
new center, according to the Associated Press, will employ up to 484 people and represents an investment of
$23 million by the Findlay Township-based company, according to the
Georgia governor's office.

In
June, the company said it plans to open 90 stores in California, where
it has none, as part of a strategy to have 800 stores nationwide in the
next seven or so years. The firm opened its 300th store earlier this
year.

The company also hopes to open 60 stores in Texas and 40
more in Florida. It currently has two stores in each of those states.
Dick's was founded in Binghamton.
