Dick's Sporting Goods has expanded its Midwest distribution center in Plainfield, Indiana from 350,000 to 725,000 square feet at a total investment of approximately $35 million. The expansion will allow Dick's Sporting Goods to service up to 230 stores from this location, compared to 100 stores before the expansion, and employ up to 700 associates at full capacity.

Dick's Sporting Goods acquired the Plainfield facility in June 2004, as part of its purchase of Galyan's Trading Company. At that time, 190 associates were employed at the facility. Today there are 310 facility associates, and the company expects to employ over 400 full-time associates by this time next year.
