Descente reported operating profits in the fiscal third quarter ended December 31 rose 44.4 percent as sales increased 8.0 percent.
Sales for the Japanese-based sporting goods company reached ¥28,889 million in the latest quarter against ¥26,755 million a year ago. Operating earnings reached ¥2.4 million versus ¥1.7 million a year earlier.
Third-quarter figures were attained by subtracting six-month results from nine-month results.
Sales in the nine months rose 12.3 percent to ¥86,099 million from ¥76,681 million.
Operating income in the nine months reached ¥7,300 million versus ¥4,380 million, a gain of 66.7 percent. Ordinary income was ¥10,445 million against ¥5,583 million, up 79.1 percent. Net profit jumped 105.4 percent to ¥10,172 million from ¥4,952 million.
Descente maintained its outlook for the fiscal year ended March 31. Sales are expected to reach ¥118,000 million, up 8.4 percent., Operating income is expected to reach ¥8,100 million, up 57.6 percent. Net income is expected to be ¥10,000 million, a gain of 60.5 percent year over year.
