Descente reported sales for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 slipped 3.1% to ¥14.76 billion ($161 mm) from ¥15.26 billion ($157 mm) in the year-ago period.

 

Falling sales, in addition to a 5.5% increase in SG&A costs to ¥7.61 billion ($83 mm) from ¥7.21 billion ($74 mm) in Q2 last year, causing Descente’s net loss to widen to ¥257.0 million ($3 mm) from a loss of ¥178.9 million ($2 mm) a year ago. In addition to its own brand, Descente distributes Cutter & Buck, Lecoq Sportif, Marmot, Munsingwear and Umbro in Japan.
