With only 375 pairs available, the Filson x Danner Grouse boot combines Danner’s signature hunting boot with a Filson Tin Cloth Upper.
Writer: Carly Terwilliger Portland-based Danner and Filson, established in Seattle in 1897 to outfit prospectors headed for the Yukon, are lacing up together with a collaboration inspired by traditional Pacific Northwest hunting gear. The limited-edition Filson x Danner Grouse boot took a signature hunting boot in the Danner line developed in the company’s Portland factory and added a Filson Tin Cloth upper. Tin Cloth is a thick cotton canvas coated in Filson’s proprietary oil-finish wax for protection from brush and rain. With full-grain leather, Gore-Tex lining, Danner’s stitchdown construction and a Vibram Sierra Outsole, the Filson x Danner Grouse boot is designed to be waterproof, rugged and durable. Both companies have a longstanding history of outfitting outdoorsmen in the Pacific Northwest.Filson originally outfitted prospectors heading up to the Klondike Gold Rush and later moved into outfitting loggers in the timber industry. Danner, after being founded in the Midwest in 1932, moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1936 to develop dependable, affordable logging boots before moving into hiking and military boots.
“Due to our deeply similar history and a continued dedication to producing the best quality gear, the collaboration between Filson and Danner is an obvious fit, with Danner being the true experts in footwear built for the field,” said Andreas Herr, marketing director, Filson.
