Cybex, in cooperation with the Consumer Products Safety Commission, is recalling 33,719 units of its Cybex and Trotter treadmills due to a potential fire hazard. The CPSC said consumers should stop using the product immediately because overheating and ignition of dust inside the treadmill's hood could cause a fire.
According to the CPSC, there were five reports of fire resulting in damage to the treadmill, but no injuries were reported. The dust reportedly accumulates because of a lack of regular maintenance.
The recalled brands and models are “Cybex 400T,” “Cybex 410T,” “Trotter 510,” “Trotter 525,” and “Trotter 535.” “CXT+” is another recalled model but does not bear the brand Cybex or Trotter.
