Cybex International, Inc. reported net sales for the first quarter 2006 were $28.9 million compared to $24.8 million for the corresponding 2005 period, an increase of 17%.
Gross margin increased 70 basis points to 36.5% of net sales from 35.8% in the year-ago quarter, while SG&A expenses decreased 60 basis points to 31.8%. The sales and margin increase combined with the expense decreases to increase net income 461%, though off a small base, to $667 thousand from $119 thousand during last year’s first quarter.
