CW-X, part of the Wacoal Sports Science Corp, has been named the official performance base layer supplier of USA Luge, an agreement that first began in 2006, and continues through the Sochi games.

The entire team will be supplied with the CW-X Insulator Web Top, Insulator PerformX Tights, and the StabilyX Coolmax Tights.

“Athletes prefer to wear performance tights and Insulator Web Tops under their race suits, which are windproof and designed from proprietary aerodynamic fabric,” said Gordy Sheer, director of marketing and sponsorship for USA Luge.

“The warmth and muscular compression provided by CW-X's patented technologies will help our athletes perform at their best.”

USA Luge began its final push toward Sochi and finished the first weekend of World Cup racing in 2014 with a fifth place effort in the team relay Jan. 5 in Koenigssee, Germany. On another warm, snowless day in the Thuringia region of Germany, USA Luge was led by Christian Niccum and Jayson Terdiman, who finished their season-best in ninth place on Jan. 11 in a World Cup luge doubles race in Oberhof. The U.S. has worked its way into third place, behind the leading Germans, and second place Italian team.

“USA Luge is the ultimate proving ground for engineered performance apparel featuring targeted support,” said John L.A. Wilson, president and chief operating officer of Wacoal Sports Science. “With CW-X performance baselayer, these world-class athletes have the best anatomical support available for the ultimate competition.”
