U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has updated information regarding the impact of sequestration on its operations at ports, according to the American Apparel & Footwear Association.

In a weekly industry stakeholder conference call April 5, CBP stated that the recent passage of the spending bill would allow the agency to mitigate, to some degree, the effects of sequestration on their workforce.

CBP has postponed implementation of furloughs and the de-authorization of overtime at this time, but continues to assess the exact impact the agency will experience and has not officially ruled out the possibility of furloughs and reduced overtime in the future. AAFA continues to encourage members to reach out to AAFA and report any delays they experience as a result of the impact of sequestration on CBP’s operations at the ports.
