The Canadian Sporting Goods Association (CSGA) hired Bryan Loucks as president and chief executive officer, timed with the Association having completed improvements to its operational platform to increase membership value.

Loucks will lead the next phase of CSGA’s plans to improve products and services, reporting directly to the Association’s Board of Directors.

“I could not be more grateful and excited to accept the position of President and CEO of the CSGA,” Loucks said. “The impact on sporting goods and retail has been significant during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s an important time for the sporting goods industry to focus on our community. I look forward to working with our Board of Directors, our corporate partners and most of all our members to maintain, create and grow the sporting goods industry.”

Loucks replaces Jon Irwin, who became CSGA’s president and CEO in July 2021 after Julian Savory retired.

“We are extremely grateful for the work that Jon Irwin did to support the CSGA’s efforts as president & CEO, evolving and advancing our operations to make us a more stable organization,” said Brad Hause, CSGA chairman of the board. “We know he will continue to excel in his new position within the trade, and we wish him all the very best. As we look to advance and evolve the mission of the CSGA, we are quite fortunate to have a leader such as Bryan Loucks at the helm. His proven experience of leading and guiding associations like ours will be invaluable to all stakeholders that the CSGA caters to.”

“I’ve spent the better part of two decades working in the sporting goods industry, and I couldn’t be more excited to know that the industry association is in good hands under Bryan’s leadership and the Board’s governance,” Irwin said. “It truly has been my pleasure and honor to work with so many wonderful industry colleagues. I wish you all the best for the exciting years ahead.”

The CSGA is a Canadian not-for-profit corporation representing businesses in Canada’s sporting goods industry.
