Crosman Corp. will manufacture a new line of products at its Ontario County (NY) headquarters rather than laying off about 50 workers. The air gun manufacturer received help from the Ontario County and New York economic development agencies to retain the jobs at its plant on Routes 5 and 20 in East Bloomfield.
Crosman Avoids Layoffs with Municipal Loan
In an interview with Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Mike Manikowski, director of economic development for the county said Crosman will receive about $600,000 from Ontario County and the state in the form of two loans and one grant. The company plans to add a line of products, but said it needed $1 million for machinery. Crosman employs more than 230 people in Ontario County.
The news marks a push by states nationwide to boost loan guarantee programs in a bid to attract and keep employers in the wake of the recession.
