Converse, the iconic shoe brand owned by Nike Inc. will release a capsule of water resistant gear for fall/winter ’16, which includes footwear…and apparel… and a backpack. They’re calling it the Converse Counter Climate Rubber Footwear and Apparel Collection.

For the shoes in this capsule, the company is pairing a classic Chuck Taylor and Jack Purcell with materials made to combat the seasonal elements. A transparent rubber overlay and water resistant matte rubber upper with thermo-regulating backer (for warmth) amp the products with performance details.

The kid’s shoes are designed with a sticky rubber upper to repel rain, an inner neoprene bootie for comfort and reflective barrel lacing with lace locks.

Branching from footwear, the shoes are accompanied by two different poncho designs, both with storm guards behind the zipper and eyelets to allow moisture escape. The aesthetic is simple, almost high fashion, and is meant to be a lifestyle option.

Since the collection seems to be geared at the back-to-school crowd, Converse went a step further by adding a backpack to the mix. And yes, it is initially confusing to see the Converse label on the front of a pack, but the design is slick.

One more newly introduced carrier was added to the collection, most likely for college students or traveling athletes. The Converse duffel features the same rubber as the pack with a sibling design aesthetic.
