MC Sports recognized Columbia Sportswear and Easton Sports as the softlines and hardlines vendors of the year for 2008, respectively. Mike Prock from Asics won the softlines rep of the year while Scott Cusack with HMT Marketing earned the nod hardlines rep of the year.

According to a statement, MC Sports said that in addition to its strong sales performance and improved turn and
GMROI, Columbia Sportswear “captured the award with a no nonsense
approach to business and through the durability and dependability of
their products.”

Easton was recognized for its “strong sales gain, increased margin, and increased
turns,” as well as supporting MC Sports with exclusive product
offerings and customized fixture programs.

Prock is a 19-year veteran of the industry and
has called on MC Sports for the past 11 years. This is the second time
Prock received the honor, winning it for the first time 2005.

Scott Cusack with HMT Marketing represents Mossberg, Kee Action Sports, Myerco Knives, Silstar
Fishing, Daisy Air Rifles and more. The Grand Rapids chain said Cusack was instrumental in
developing strong vendor partnerships and improving business metrics in
several key areas of the company.

“To be successful in today’s competitive environment, MC Sports must forge strong partnerships with our vendor community,” noted Dan Winchester, vice president and chief merchandise officer for MC Sports. “The 2008 winners of our vendor and rep of the year awards worked hard to support our strategies and increase both theirs and our business. They should be congratulated for a job well done.”

Headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, MC Sports currently operates 80 stores in 7 states throughout the Midwest.
