Jarden Corporation has named Sam A. Solomon as President and Chief Executive Officer of The Coleman Company, Inc.

Solomon has been serving as interim President and CEO since September 2007, when the company said it launched a search for a permanent CEO

“I am extremely pleased to have someone of Sam’s talent, experience and character to lead the Coleman organization,” said Greg Shearson, CEO of Jarden Outdoor Solutions. “Sam’s contribution to the Coleman team has been substantial already, but I am even more excited about our future. Jarden is committed to being the world’s best outdoor company, and Coleman is a critical part of that vision.”

Solomon is a seasoned executive with more than 23 years’ experience in finance, brand management and general business administration at global multi-national companies such as The Coca-Cola Company; Kidde, PLC; SPX Corporation; The Proctor and Gamble Company; and most recently, at Coleman.

“I am excited about where our Coleman team can take this truly historic company,” Solomon said. “We are focused on expanding Coleman’s exceptionally powerful camping base to deliver innovative products to consumers wherever they play outdoors.”

Solomon will oversee one of the industry's most expansive product lines, including lanterns and stoves, coolers, tents, sleeping bags, airbeds, backpacks, furniture, and grills under its Coleman and Exponent brands. Additionally, the company provides flotation devices, towables, rainwear, waders, hunting and fishing gear, and safety and survival equipment under its Stearns, Sevylor, Sospenders, Hodgman, Mad Dog Gear, Nevin and Helium brands.
