Chums-Chisco, a provider of $15 and under accessories to the outdoor specialty retailer, has merged with Beyond Coastal Sun Care. Beyond Coastal founder Shawn Biega will remain an integral part of sales and marketing with Chums-Chisco. Biega launched the company after he began to see friends in their early 30s diagnosed with skin cancer. After numerous years of testing, Biega partnered with a small lab in California and developed a sunscreen that not only works in the most challenging of conditions, but is also good for the body.

“We're really excited about consolidating forces with Chums-Chisco to provide more sun care to more people,” said Beyond Coastal’s Biega. “Our customer bases are very similar and increasing our distribution will allow both brands to grow and educate more people on the benefits of protecting the skin.”

Based in Utah, Chums-Chisco was formed in January 2007 by the merger of accessories makers Chums and Chisco. Although still best known for Chums' cotton eyewear retainers and Chisco's watchbands, the company makes a growing array of accessories for outdoor specialty retailers, including eyeglass retainers, lanyards, iPod cases, watchbands, key chains, wallets, purses, ski products, and other action sport accessories, as well as ASI, OEM, and an entire line of safety accessories.

“The merger with Beyond Coastal will make it easier for retailers to keep their customer base protected while they're outdoors using the accessories Chums-Chisco manufactures,” commented Beirne Chisolm, a partner in Chums-Chisco and co-founder of Chisco.
