Sara Lee Branded Apparel is making a move to more vertically integrate its operations and gain control of its entire supply chain with the acquisition of National Textiles and DFK Trading Corporation. National Textiles is a yarn and textile production company in North Carolina while DFK is an Asian sourcing company. The acquisitions bring more raw material production and sourcing capability to support the many brands under the Sara Lee umbrella, including Champion, Hanes, and Duofold.
With vertical yarn-to-textile operations, National Textiles is a major supplier of open-end and ring-spun cotton as well as blended yarns and finished tubular fabrics. DFK will operate as DFK International Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sara Lee Branded Apparel. Based in Hong Kong, DFK will source raw materials in the emerging Asian market.
