Urban Outfitters Inc. said Glen T. Senk has stepped down as chief executive and that co-founder and Chairman Richard A. Hayne will succeed him. Senk resigned to “pursue another opportunity” and also left the retailer's board of directors though he will remain on to help with the transition.

Senk joined the company in 1994 as president of Anthropologie and became CEO in 2007.

Hayne, 64, helped establish Urban Outfitters in 1970 and has served as chairman and president since the company's incorporation in 1976.
