Cannondale Bicycle Corp. has recalled 150 of its 2008 Scalpel models – priced from $3,200 to $4,300 – because of reports that the carbon fiber and aluminum frames are breaking.

Cannondale and CPSC said they’ve received six reports of breaking frames. No injuries have been reported.

The 2008 model year Scalpel is a cross-country racing mountain bike, made from carbon fiber and aluminum. They were sold in Black/White, Blue/Black and Black. Affected models include the Scalpel Frameset, Scalpel Team, Scalpel 1 and Scalpel 2. The CPSC advised customers to immediately stop using the products.

The bikes were sold from October 2007 through December 2007.
