Holt Renfrew, the Canadian luxury department store chain, reported Sebastian Picardo plans to step down as president and CEO, effective Sept. 30, 2025. He has served in the role since 2020.

“An active global search is underway for our new president and CEO with final candidates being reviewed,” the Toronto-based retailer said in a statement.

The retailer said that Picardo decided to return to Europe “to be closer to family and pursue other opportunities.”

Prior to joining Holt Renfrew, Picardo served as deputy president and COO of Lane Crawford, the luxury department store based in Hong Kong.  He also held leadership roles at Burberry, Net-a-Porter, Alexander McQueen and Deloitte.

Holt Renfrew operates six locations in Canada, including its flagship store on Bloor Street West in Toronto.
