Cabela’s and Jordan Outdoor Enterprises are among 12 defendants named in a civil suit filed by inventor Nathan Conk of Elko, NV. Conk has filed suit against the manufacturers for patent infringement allegations regarding camouflage patterns used by the companies.

According to a document filed with the US District Court of Utah, Central division, the allegations relate to a pattern developed and designed by Conk that mimics “the three-dimensional spatial relationships present between plant life and the landscape in outdoor settings.”

Conk applied for and was issued two patents for his camouflage patterns. According to the document, Conk alleges the defendants have infringed … “various claims of each of the patents-in-suit…through, among other activities, the manufacture, use, importation, sales, license and/or offer for sales…” of the patterns in question.

Conk is requesting certain compensatory awards from the companies as well as requesting a permanent injunction for the patterns in question.
