CamelBak, the maker of  hydration gear, appointed Chris Strain as vice president and chief marketing officer. Prior to joining CamelBak, Strain was a partner at Outside Labs and created its SCAPE Athlete brand and accompanying products. He also served as vice president of global marketing at Vans, which was acquired by Vanity Fair Corporation during his six-year tenure.

At Vans, he was responsible for brand positioning, advertising, public relations, events, athlete sponsorships and retail marketing. Strain has additional sports marketing and brand building experience from his time as Brand Manager at Mountain Dew and All Sport at PepsiCo.

In his new role, Strain will be responsible for strategic development and execution of CamelBak's global brand-building initiatives across the company's recreation and military divisions. He will report directly to Sally McCoy, CEO of CamelBak.
