Cabela's Incorporated plans its newest retail store adjacent to Interstate 90 in Rapid City, S.D.
Construction on the 80,000 square-foot retail store is scheduled to begin this summer and it is expected to open for business in the spring of 2008.
The store will be part of a 700,000 square-foot open-air retail center planned for approximately 70 acres near the intersection of Dyess Avenue and East Mall Drive. Foursquare Properties is developing the project on land it is purchasing from GLM Land Corporation.
This will be the second Cabela's store in South Dakota. The first, in Mitchell, opened in 2000. Cabela's also operates Van Dyke's, a direct marketer of taxidermy and furniture restoration supplies, in Woonsocket.

Because of them, we are excited about building this store so they have a place to enjoy the Cabela's experience.
“With its proximity to the Black Hills and central location in an area abounding in outdoor-recreation opportunities, Rapid City is an ideal site for Cabela's,” Highby said.
“Hunting, fishing, camping – all kinds of outdoor activities are a part of the history and tradition of Rapid City, the Black Hills and the entire state and neighboring states,” Highby said. “With the thousands of outdoor enthusiasts living in the area, plus the thousands of hunters, anglers and other visitors who travel to the area every year, we expect our new store to become a major attraction – and a significant positive economic impact – for the area.”
