Following a a first quarter that saw earnings surge 58%, management for Cabela's Inc. hosted a shareholder meeting this week detailing results from fiscal 2009 and outlining key growth initiatives for 2010 and beyond. CEO Tommy Millner summarized several successes during 2009, including capitalizing on the core customer, boosting the number of multi-channel customers, reducing operating expenses and improving return on invested capital.
Among initiatives for the rest of 2010 and beyond, Millner confirmed the self-proclaimed 'World's Foremost Outfitter' would implement several initiatives, including continuing to focus on the core customer, improving merchandise margins, boosting overall retail production and growing the Direct segment with the help of a newly-designed Cabelas.com site.
