Cabela’s Incorporated's top merchandiser is transitioning to a consulting role, the retailer announced Aug. 17.

Effective Aug. 31, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer Brian J. Linneman will become a strategic advisor to the company. Linneman has been with Cabela’s for 17 years and has been the chief merchandising officer since January 2010. Prior to his role as chief merchandising officer,  Linneman held roles as corporate logistics manager, director of strategic projects, vice president of strategic projects and mis, vice president and chief operating officer, and senior vice president of global supply chain and operations.

“Brian has made significant contributions to Cabela’s over the past 17 years. We are pleased to have him continue to contribute to the company as a strategic advisor,” said Cabela's CEO Tommy Millner.

As part of this change, the company is promoting Scott K. Williams to executive vice president and chief commercial officer. Merchandising, along with Marketing, E-Commerce, Real Estate, and Strategy, will report to  Williams in his new role. Roger Verhulst, senior vice president of merchandising, has been with Cabela’s over 20 years and will continue to lead the company’s merchandising teams and report directly to Williams.
