Cabela’s is shuttering its Fort Oglethorpe, GA, and Bristol, VA, locations and consolidating those stores with nearby and expanding Bass Pro Shops in Chattanooga, TN and Bristol, TN, respectively, according to the company.

The moves are part of the ongoing transition of Bass Pro Shops’ acquisition of Cabela’s. Each store that’s affected is only a few miles from a Bass Pro Shop in a neighboring community.

On the Georgia-Tennessee border, all Fort Oglethorpe Cabela’s employees have an opportunity to transfer to the new location, the company said.

“By bringing these brands together, we can better serve our customers with greater product assortment, value and local expertise in a single location,” the company said in a release. “We are currently updating the Chattanooga store at Jordon Crossing with expanded product offerings from Cabela’s and new exterior and interior signage that celebrates Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops and Tracker. Once completed later this year, the remodeled store will celebrate a grand reopening with special deals and offers.”

The Fort Oglethorpe store, whose address is technically Ringgold, GA, is along the Georgia-Tennessee border and only 2.4 miles from the Chattanooga, TN location.

The company issued a similar statement for its Cabela’s closure on the northern Tennessee border.

“Effective today, Cabela’s in Bristol, Virginia, is closing to bring the iconic outdoor brands of Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Boats and ATVs together under one roof at the existing Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Bristol, Tennessee,” the statement said. “By bringing these brands together, we can better serve our customers with greater product assortment, value and local expertise in a single location. We are currently expanding the Outdoor World store at The Pinnacle in Bristol, Tennessee, with additional product offerings from Cabela’s and new exterior and interior signage that celebrates Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops, and Tracker. Once completed later this year, the expanded store will celebrate a grand reopening with special deals and offers.”
