Bushnell has established an annual award for members of the media to recognize excellence in optical journalism. The award will bear the name of long time outdoor writer Bill McRae, who is widely regarded as one of the most knowledgeable optics writers in the industry.
Bill has spent his career testing and writing about sport optics, as well as mentoring young writers and industry people, sharing his knowledge of not only optics, but journalism, photography and the outdoor world.
To further honor Bill, Bushnell has established an annual scholarship of $7500.00 at the University of California, Davis for students who will pursue careers in the optics field. UC Davis views the Bill McRae scholarship as precedent setting, because it will be the first corporate sponsored scholarship at this school named for an individual.
